Organic In Your Own Home

Tired of dull, average produce at my local grocery store, I decided to look into ways to get fresh and delicious fruits and vegetables for a reasonable price. Thank goodness I looked because I was soon enough ensconsed in the world of organic produce.

As my chosen service explains, “Organic foods — ‘organics’ for short — are grown and produced the way nature intended: without synthetic herbicides, pesticides, fungicides, antibiotics or genetic modification. The result? Minimal impact on the environment, and better-tasting, naturally good food on your table.”

Every two weeks I get a bin full of local and international produce - including the best bananas I have ever tasted - delivered to my front door. What is delivered changes from week to week, depending on what is in season; but the staples (lettuce, apples, bananas, oranges, etc.) are usually there. Other high notes include interesting variety, fun new recipes, the ability to substitute for items I don’t feel like having that week, along with incredible freshness and taste. And the price is right too.

I recommend a quick internet search for organic produce companies (or co-ops) in your town. It is the best thing I have done for myself in a long time. The company I use in Toronto, Ontario, Canada is Front Door Organics. If you’re in the Toronto area, give them a call!
