Insert "Dead On Your Feet?" Joke Here

According to the CBC,

"a no-frills funeral company in Australia has received the go-ahead to create a cemetery where bodies will be buried standing up to save space and lessen environmental impacts.

Instead of being buried lying down in traditional coffins, people will be buried in 3.2-metre-deep holes, standing upright in simple, biodegradable body bags. Their graves won't be marked with headstones.

Then, when the new cemetery is full, the company can turn the land back into a grazing pasture for farm animals."

  • this is something that I thought of when I first learned about fossil fuels in the early 80's. today when I mention it to people they think that it is sick. I think that this is a great idea, that is if the funreal home does not pump your body full of perservitaves that won't break and and later cause soil contanmination

  • I would rather be buried in such a way that I would break down and become part of the biosphere again than be placed in a hermetically sealed coffin and pumped full of preservatives. The former lets at least part of me live again, where the latter assures I will be dead (and cause death) for generations.
