Return To Sender Bill
Sure, it’s a year late but still worth mentioning… According to Katie Dean at Wired, the California Assembly debated a bill last April that would have forced companies to provide a return envelope (or another usable free method for a product’s return) for each unsolicited CD they send out, possibly crimping the marketing plans of companies like America Online. Disposable DVDs would also have been included in this grouping.
However, this attempt failed in committee. The sponsor of the bill, Assemblywoman Lori Hancock (D-Berkeley) vowed to return the next year with similar legislation.
Encouraging!
