What Were They Thinking?
According to CBC News, a New Brunswick rotary club is drawing criticism over a plan to raise money for a new eco-centre by raffling off one of the largest gas-guzzling vehicles on the market.
The Rotary Club of Chatham says its “Hum-Dinger” of a prize – a Hummer H2 SUT – is just what it needs to raise $100,000 for the proposed French Fort Cove Eco-Centre.
The plan for the centre is to showcase Miramichi’s history and culture while promoting education and environmental awareness. But it’s perplexing that the Rotary Club would give away a Hummer in a contest aimed at promoting environmental conservation.
