What was not so easy, was adding a 4’ PVC line for a traditional ‘flush’ toilet. Due the distance to my cleanout (sewer), it would have cost between $2,000 - $4,000 just to run an underground sewer line. Since I was not going to pay this to run a sewer line, we opted for the composting toilet. My wife had serious reservations about us putting an ‘outhouse’ in our bathroom.
