New Home Week Continues: Outlet & Wall Plate Insulators
I was crazy to think that all the tips for your new (new to you, that is) home could be fit into 1 week. So here we go into week 2!
An electrical outlet insulator inserted between a switch or a receptacle and its cover is extremely useful (and inexpensive!) to stop airflow. Amongst many others, I installed one behind a light switch on an outside wall of my creaky 80-year old home this past weekend and the difference was immediately noticeable. And if you feel active, you can also inject silicone caulk around all wires inside the box and around the drywall or plaster.
More to come as the week progresses…
