Take Action: Get To Work Ottawa!
For the next two weeks, the world will be watching as Montreal hosts the United Nations Conference of the Parties to the Climate Change Conference to the Climate Change Convention. Right, nice name.Nearly 10,000 climate scientists, government officials, journalists and activists from around the world are expected to attend the conference from November 28 to December 9. This summit marks the first meeting of the 156 countries that have adopted the Kyoto Protocol. It’s also the first time the conference will be held in North America.
This climate change event is extremely important for Canada. As the David Suzuki Foundation writes, "with company coming over, it’s time for us to get our house in order." So with that in mind, we urge you to take part in this simple action - click here and send a free (paperless, we assume) fax to the Prime Minister and tell him to start putting Canada’s Kyoto plan to work
The Canadian government has been dragging its feet on reducing greenhouse gas emissions. This must change. As chair of this year’s United Nations climate change summit, Canada needs to demonstrate international leadership and commit to deep, long-term cuts in greenhouse gas pollution.
