Morrissey Clobbers Canada
Maybe Oscar Wilde was right when he said, “A poet without hysterics is rare.”
Pitchfork reports that Morrissey is not going to tour in Canada to promote his new LP, Ringleader of the Tormentors, in protest of the Canadian seal hunt.
Canada’s annual seal hunt has put it at odds with the king of all vegans, prompting Morrissey to refuse to tour the country in support of his forthcoming album, Ringleader of the Tormentors. In a statement on the fan site True to You, Morrissey said, “I fully realise that the absence of any Morrissey concerts in Canada is unlikely to bring the Canadian economy to its knees, but it is our small protest against this horrific slaughter.”
According to Moz, the Canadian government argues that the “cull,” as the hunt is called, is a sustainable, economically viable activity based on sound conservation principles, but Morrissey remains offended by “the barbaric slaughter of over 325,000 baby seals which is now underway.”

Pitchfork notes that Morrissey is touring other perfect countries like the US, England, Scotland and Finland “where nobody ever did anything bad.”
C’mon, Morrissey! We’re not all bad people here! And, I promise I will be picking up your new album as soon as it is out (April 4) and will also pick-up the endless re-issued and re-packaged CDs and DVDs like I always have.
Thank you to fellow Greenthinker and Canadian Nathan for the tip.
