Building Green On PBS

buildinggreen_photo.jpg

Building Green,” is a home improvement tv series that will air on PBS this summer about creating gorgeous homes that are healthier, more energy efficient, and better for the environment.

According to press material, every phase of sustainable construction will be presented by host Kevin Contreras, sharing information in the”how-to” build greener homes vein. Natural home products and techniques like straw bale building are also covered in detail to show the infinite ways to build a healthy house. Segments like “Saving Green” and “Easy Steps” show viewers what they can do in real world circumstances to make choices to build green.

During the first season, the show will follow the start to finish progress on a straw bale home being built in Santa Barbara, California. Through interactions with the homeowners, contractors and experts, we will see the “romance and challenge” of building this home. The information is organized around family health, cost and environmental impact. Included in each episode are “Green Extreme,” “Inside the Design,” “Saving Green,” “Building Health,” “Reduce Reuse & Recycle,” and “Easy Steps” segments, visits from experts, and hands on how-to that help viewers take immediate action toward greening their own homes. Sounds like fun.

And Apple has jumped into the discussion as well, here.
