Earth Day Clean-Up
There is a park clean-up day going on in my community (Brooklin) on Earth Day, April 22.
The cleanup efforts will take place in a number of Brooklin parks from 9 to 11 a.m. Cleanup supplies will be provided, including garbage bags and gloves. Refreshments and prizes will also be available.
The objective of the event, which has come about through the initiative of Brooklin resident Shaun Williamson, is to preserve the environment and build pride among the community. The cleanup day is also meant to create a sense of ownership in local park lands. Park captains will be on hand at each park to help supervise and provide information on garbage drop-off points, the Town of Whitby said.
The cleanup event will take place at the following locations in Brooklin: Carson Park, Kinross Park, Selkirk Park, Brooklin Optimist Park, Kinsmen Park, Vipond Park, Memorial Park, Grass Park and Duggan Park.
