Travelling Riverside Greens

I have left my home base in good ol’ Canada for the US of A. I will try to report any green happenings as they arise.

I am in the great State of Florida right now and can report that in St. Petersburg there does not seem to be any type of blue box recycling going on. If you want to recycle cans and the like you have to drive them to a recycling depot. Very odd for someone from the Toronto area —where we are spoiled with convenient recycling curbside pick-ups.

Today I picked up a bottle of Biota water. Biota, out of Colorado, comes in compostable corn-based plastic bottles. (We’ve probably written about it here before.) Plastic bottles are of course a green no-no but I couldn’t pass up on this one. I’d like to bring it home and throw it in my backyard composter to see what happens… (they are supposed to be for “commercial” composting).

I’ll report more later. The pool and my iPod await me. Not at same time.
