We’re in the middle of a n early mini-heatwave in my neck of the woods and it’s time to revisit our annual pet peeve - stores that blast their air conditioners all day long but leave their big front doors open.

You’d think after all the brown-outs and black-outs, energy shortage warnings and smog alerts, these businesses would take the hint. But no, no they don’t. And we’ve heard all the excuses - if we close the doors, people think we’re closed; everyone else is doing it so we have to compete; the door might break from being opened and closed too much; because the boss said so… Sheesh.

And guess what corp has been spotted doing this on many a hot day? Social and sustainability success story American Apparel. Surprising. Close those doors! Nice pique short-sleeve collared shirts, though.
