Green Diapers

gdiapers_photo.jpg Another exciting item discussed in the recent Fortune/CNN Money piece featuring our very own Greenthinker Scott is gDiapers - a system designed to keep your baby dry and comfortable and the Earth a little happier.

gDiapers consist of an outer layer of washable pants, an inner layer, made of ‘tree farmed fluff pulp’ and an absorbent material (that holds up to 100 times its weight in liquid) to keep babies dry. Flushing the disposable inner layer sends it to the wastewater treatment facility where sludge is removed (and sometimes used as compost). You can also put it into your ‘green bin’ if your city or town provides one. By contrast, the plastic in disposable diapers can take hundreds of years to decompose in landfills.

The flushable fits into the snap-in ilner of the colorful ‘little g’ pants. The liners are made of water resistant, breathable material to keep wetness away so your baby is never sitting in plastic that can irritate the skin. Each pair of little g’s comes with a spare snap-in liner. Liners can be hand washed for a quick re-use or washed and dried with your normal laundry.
