Looking for roadside assistance, but prefer a little tinge of green at the same time? Then check out Better World Club.

Launched in the spring of 2002, Better World touts itself as the nation’s only environmentally friendly auto club. Membership includes eco-travel services, discounts on hybrid cars, insurance services, free maps, auto maintenance discounts and bicycle roadside assistance. They also donate 1% of annual revenues toward environmental cleanup and advocacy.

Better World also offers carbon offsets to air travelers though its Travel Cool program. A portion of each airline ticket purchased goes to programs that reduce carbon dioxide emissions.

Sure, an ecologically-minded auto club sounds like a bit of a contradiction, but it’s not a bad alternative for those of us for whom car use is a must.
