Simple And Cheap Warmth

Winter is finally starting to come into its own and so it’s time for the annual Greenthinkers posts on what you can do at home to stay warm in the greenest (and least expensive) way.

First up GetRichSlowly.org presents some cheap ways to stay warm this winter, including…

  • Let in some light. Open blinds on south-facing windows during the day to let in the sun. Close them in the evening to add a bit more insulation.

  • Block drafts. This is best done with weather-stripping or other forms of insulation.

  • Bundle up. And don’t forget your slippers.

  • Install a programmable thermostat.

  • Change the furnace filter.

  • Close unused rooms. Do not heat them.
