News Blip: EU Energy Plans

Another one from CBC, the European Union outlined its proposed new energy policy last week, calling for increased use of renewable sources to wean the 27-nation bloc off foreign oil and gas imports. “Saying the days of cheap energy are over, the report urges countries to rely on more renewable energy such as wind power and biofuels.”

And according to BBC, Commission chief Jose Manuel Barroso said it was time for a ‘post-industrial revolution’ which would see Europe slash greenhouse gases by 20% by 2020.
