Ask Governor Schwarzenegger Re: CA Efforts to Reduce Greenhouse Gasses
This Monday, 3pm PST the Governor will host an on-line panel and forum to discuss California’s efforts and plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
From the press release:
“Ask the Experts” video Web discussion
The Governor’s Office will hold a live, interactive video Web discussion on California’s greenhouse gas emissions policies and how clean energy technology and market-based solutions can help meet them.
Members of the public can submit questions to discuss how California’s efforts are making a difference in the fight against global warming.
Confirmed panelists include:
Dan Skopec, Undersecretary, California Environmental Protection Agency
Eric Heitz, President, Energy Foundation
Brian Prusnek, Deputy Cabinet Secretary, Office of Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger
Though directed at a California audience, this seems like a good way to shine light on California’s environmental policies, and to question the governor and his panel directly about their global warming policy direction. That said, phrases like “market-based” and “clean energy” in a single sentence give me pause.
As Louis Brandeis put it, “Sunlight is said to be the best of disinfectants.” Keeping government and business dealings as public as possible can only be a good thing as we move towards more definitive climate change prevention.
Go to gov.ca.gov/ask/ to participate on 2/26/07 at 3 pm PST.
