The Ecotopia Garden at Canada Blooms was a somewhat cheesily-named garden display created through a partnership of several private companies, government agencies and NGOs to promote sustainable and environmentally friendly landscape and gardening practices that every homeowner can use in their back yard. As you can imagine, this one was right up our alley.

The four themes of Backyard Ecotopia are energy conservation through smart landscaping and products, attracting desirable wildlife by creating habitat with the right plant material, water conservation with permeable paving and water retention features, and recycling of household waste through composting, as a way to increase soil fertility and increase plant health, as well as a means to reduce waste going to a landfill site.
