Canada Blooms: Toronto Green Guide

Also being touted at Canada Blooms was the City of Toronto’s first ever Green Guide - a summary of the city’s environmental projects, programs and policies.
The intention of the guide is to provide a snapshot of current environmental efforts along with sources of more information about the issues and projects that interest the city’s dwellers (called Torontonians as an interesting aside).
For example, one thing I didn’t know was that, currently, 50 transit shelters along city streets are lit by solar-powered lights. A solar panel on the roof of the metal and glass shelter charges a battery stored under the seat and connected to the overhead lighting. Cool.
Lots more facts are inside the Green Guide. We’d love to hear from you about your city or town’s green initiatives.
