According to Sports Illustrated, with less snow falling this winter and warmer temperatures making artificial snow an expensive alternative, World Cup races have been canceled and ski resorts have been suffering. Hello global warming !

That’s right, this season has seen eight World Cup skiiing events canceled so far; a new wrinkle that is likely to become more common in years to come.

And check this out, “some Alpine resorts have begun ‘wrapping’ glaciers - draping football-field-sized foil sheets around them in the summer to keep sunlight out and cold in. That’s as crazy as the importing of snow from higher elevations (sometimes even by helicopter) that had to be done this season to help save some of the events.

Well, now that global warming is starting to go after our winter sports, it’s on!
