Greenthinkers News Blip: EU To Boost Use Of Renewable Energy
From Euro2Day, um, today, European Union leaders have agreed on a long-term energy strategy aimed at fighting global warming and reducing their reliance on fossil fuels.
The deal setting binding targets for slashing greenhouse gas emissions, developing renewable energy sources, promoting energy efficiency and using biofuels laid down a challenge to the United States and other industrialised powers to follow suit.
The goal of the agreement is a 20% cut by 2020 in greenouse gas emissions from the consumption of fossil fuels.
