A solar-powered air condition sure sounds like a great idea, right? Well, now we’ll get the chance to see it in action as SolCool is planning on launching the SolCool Millennia version 4, a hybrid solar air conditioner, later this week.

The SolCool Millenia 4.0 is the size of a regular unit and promises to cool the space of a large room, running on solar panels (or regular power ot even batteries). It promisesa greater than 75% savings in energy consumption compared to most comparable conventional AC units.

And get this, this latest version also has attachments for purifying water and running other direct current appliances, like lights and ceiling fans. Cool. SolCool, that is.
