EDC #9: Recycle Your Cell Phone

It’s Monday, so let’s fire up the Earth Day Countdown machine.
Tip #9: Donate your old cell phones. We all know that mobile phones are only built to last a couple of years at best. And when that little flip hits that wall, make sure you don’t throw it in the trash - recycle! Millions of cell phones are dumped in landfills every year in the United States, resulting in more that 65,000 tonnes of waste (which, of course, includes a heck of a lot of of hazardous materials).
And the good thing is, recycling phones is easier than ever. Check with your service provider, they might do it themselves. Or, contact call2recycle.org or collectivegood.com. Easy peasy.
