EDC #1: Install A High-Efficiency Shower Head
First up in the Earth Day Countdown-a-thon, use an aerated and high-efficiency shower head and save yourself heating costs and roughly between 1000 and 8000 gallons of water a year.
For maximum water efficiency, select a shower head with a flow rate of less than 2.5 gpm. Aerating showerheads mix air with water, forming a misty spray that actually can make the water pressure feel higher than it is. However, as the U.S. Department of Energy notes, if you live in a humid climate, you might want to use a laminar-flow showerhead because it won’t create as much steam and moisture as an aerating one.
That’s tip #1. Lots more to go.
