NEC's Corn-Based Plastic

Good old Gizmodo has unearthed a cool one to top off a flurry of evening posts. According to reports, NEC has created a new plastic made of corn.
We’re talking biodegradable “plastic” that conducts heat as well as carbon fiber and twice as well as stainless steel. Because of this great ability to cool, slim electronics like mobile phones and laptops can become even more ridiculously thin when made from this material as thicker heat-dissipating material and fans can be eliminated. NEC’s maintains a mass production target of April, 2008 for this stuff.
Coming soon to a cell phone store near you - a cell phone so thin you can’t see it from the side.
