Montreal's BigBelly

The City of Montreal is going solar in its bid to clean up downtown streets. That’s right, here comes BigBelly, a “green” garbage can that uses cordless compaction technology. The sun-powered trash cans compact garbage using solar energy, and can hold up to five times the volume of regular garbage cans, as seen in the video here.

Developed by MA-based Seahorse Power, as the BigBelly can hold all that extra trash, it reduces the number of required pick-ups (and thus all that fuel consumption, etc) by quite a bit.

Montreal sure doesn’t like litter.
