New Soliant Energy Solar Awesomeness
According to Technology Review, Soliant Energy’s new mechanism for focusing light on small areas of photovoltaic material could very well make solar power cheaper than electricity from the grid in most markets within the next few years.

Beyond that, the next generation is even more crazy-efficient. With moving rectangular panels, the pieces can track the sun as it moves across the sky. This one is due in 2010., will require even fewer solar cells, and will cost just a quarter the price of today’s units.
Great news all around.
