As re-usable grocery store shopping bags are all the rage these days (they are everywhere), we thought we’d take a look at another one that just hit the market.

This time it’s Canada’s Sobey’s/Price Choppers/IGA/Foodland chain that has introduced its “Green Bag For Life”, a reusable grocery bag that is guaranteed for life. Really. If the bag wears out, customers can return it to any participating store for a free replacement. All worn bags will be recycled.

Designed to hold over 20 kg, the bag is machine-washable, contains a minimum of 20% recycled material and is 100% recyclable.

In addition to offering customers a reusable grocery bag option, they have introduced in-store cashier training as by simply adding one more item to the average bag, they can reduce plastic bag usage by up to 20 percent.
