The Clean Hub
Over at Envirolet Buzz I recently posted about a cool sustainable design project called the Clean Hub, designed to provide the basics nesessities of life in developing or disaster areas, which is housing one of my Envirolet composting toilets. Here is what I wrote:
We are proud to announce that an Envirolet DC12 composting toilet system is part of the Clean Hub, an environment-friendly pre-fab structure that will provide needed shelter and sanitation to people in developing areas or in emergency situations.
The Clean Hub is a project developed by Shelter Architecture in Minnesota and later designed and built as a prototype by University of Minnesota College of Design students.
Shelter Architecture writes that “as part of our commitment to social equity on a global level, we are continuously evolving the idea of a small scale, self contained ecosystem. The Hub is designed to provide clean water, sanitation facilities, electricity, and agriculture to remote, refugee, and slum settlements.”
