Tuna's Carbon Footprint

tjukimarket_photos.jpg

We’re linking to two great related stories here - one in Vanity Fair and a follow up by Treehugger.

In search of the ultimate sushi experience, Vanity Fair’s Nick Tosches plunges into the frenzy of the world’s biggest seafood market, Tokyo’s Tsukiji, where a bluefin tuna can fetch more than $170,000 at auction. And Treehugger picks it up from there, calculating the cost in carbon to get tiny pieces of this huge fish to sushi restaurants around the world.

Some pretty surprising stuff, and two entertaining reads.
