It is a food-safe way to remove dirt, wax and residue: Sprinkle it on wet vegetables and fruit, scrub and rinse. Easy stuff.
It helps maintain normal pH levels in pools: Add 1 1/2 pounds of the stuff for every 10,000 gallons of water to raise the total alkalinity to 10 parts/million. We assume this means something to pool people.
