Beyond Kyoto: Post-2012
With only five years before the first phase of the Kyoto Protocol expires, United Nations climate change officials are racing to negotiate a roadmap for greenhouse gas reductions post-2012. These negotiations, beginning Aug. 27 with preparatory meetings in Austria, will culminate in a two-week conference in December in Indonesia, where officials hope to agree on goals and commitments for Kyoto’s successor.
