CBC Says Scooter Use On The Rise

According to a CBC special report, scooter use is on the rise, and for good reason.
Scooters are also attractive to the many budget-conscious riders out there, partly due to the fact that one can get by spending only about CA$150 a year on gas for a 50 cubic cm scooter. (Prices for these little guys start as low as CA$2,500). Not to mention the fact that in some urban areas, parking is free. Toronto has led the way in this area by being one of the first cities in North America to offer free parking for scooters in designated areas.
And enviro-conscious users will be even more pleased in 2008 when we will see the introdutcion to the North American market of the Polish-made Vectrix, an electric scooter that offers a zero-emission, low-noise alternative for inner-city transportation and can be recharged using a standard outlet. More on that when it hits our shores!
