Fenway's Green Monster Goes Really Green

fenwaypark_photos.jpg

Ecorazzi, the home of celebrity green news, brings us something from the sports world this week. And what better timing as the pennant races reach fever pitch in the last week of the season.

It appears that the Boston Red Sox have teamed up with the NRDC to green the Green Monster and the rest of their Fenway Park.

Giving a second meaning to the color of its interior and well-known left field wall (the “Green Monster”), efforts to make Fenway more green will include a recycling program, improved removal of refuse, and the consideration of solar panels to reduce energy consumption. These initiatives, and others, will take place over the next five years, culminating in 2012, when baseball celebrates the 100th anniversary of “America’s Most Beloved Ballpark.”

Excellent news. Why all stadiums aren’t doing the same is beyond us.
