That’s right, recycled countertops are in. As we have mentioned in the past, these countertops resemble granite, but also aluminum and glass, and are just as durable as the originals.
Composite countertops have the look of natural soapstone or concrete. It is a great material for contemporary or period homes and is made from recycled waste paper and flash.
Alkemi is a recycled composite material composed of a minimum of 60% aluminum post-industrial scrap for use as a solid surfacing material. It is strong, durable, and attractive. Alkemi offers a fresh and innovative alternative to typical commercial options, such as solid surface, plastic laminate, stone, and glass. And the surfaces can be sanded and buffed, and can be cut and shaped using conventional woodworking tools.
Vetrazzo countertops have mixed colors of recyled glass chips embedded in a masonry binder for a terrazzo-like look. Vetrazzo is available in a wide variety of colors and in thicknesses from 1”-1-1/2”, and contains 80-90% post-consumer waste.
