Top 5 Green Kitchen Trends: Top-Bottom Fridge-Freezers

Surprised that these made our top 5? Well don’t be. Like a lot of the new dishwashers out there, these newfangled top and bottom freezer/refrigerator units are more energy-efficient than side-by-side models because not as much cold air escapes.
Not sure if your fridge can pass the eco-friendly test? Shut the door on a dollar bill — if it slides out easily then it’s a sign the seal needs to be replaced. Not sure if it’s better to have two smaller fridges instead of one big one? Again, don’t be - it’s not.
Plus, according to Grist, “once you have your refrigerator in home, there are several things you can do to help with fridge efficiency: clean the coils, keep the fridge away from heat sources, and stick a thermometer inside to ensure you maintain the right temperature (35 to 38 degrees Fahrenheit).”
