Green Blogs Running Non-Green Ads... Should We Care?
I have noticed that quite a few green blogs out there are running ads (via blogads, something we use as well) for what I would not consider a very green product.
I am speaking of an ad for a pricey ($500+) toilet seat (i.e., bidet seat) that uses heat and water for extra comfort. The ad features some bare bottoms and you have probably seen it. (My own Envirolet green toilets make me prone to look at such things…!)
The addition of water to the seat is for cleaning and comfort and the heat feature is so you do not have to (God-forbid) sit on a cold toilet seat at night… These additions of heat and water to a toilet seat would seem to be a bit of an unnecessary luxury. Am I wrong?
I am not perfect (far from it) and do participate in many unnecessary luxuries (as you will see in a soon-to-come post and I am sure we have run some questionable ads) but I just hope the operators of these sites realize what this product is.
But back to the main question, should we care what ads so-called green sites run? Ultimately, I say no. The consumer can make up their own mind.
