Responsible ecotourism includes programs that minimize the negative aspects of conventional tourism on the environment, and enhance the cultural integrity of local people. National Geographic’s Centre For Sustainable Destinations provides links for such ecotours and green tourism associations.

So when you start to look at travel destinations and plan your trip, remember this code:

1. Do no harm.

2. Do not abuse the destination.

3. Conserve resources.

4. Respect local culture and tradition.

5. Quality, not quantity.
