Top 5 Gras-Fed Dairies: Grass Point Farms

grasspoint_photos.jpg

Perhaps not surprisingly to many, not all store bought organic milks come from cows that are grass fed. In fact, many major companies like Horizon and Organic Valley don’t let their cows out to pasture. But the companies in this top 5 do their best to get their cows out to pasture as much as possible from early spring to late fall.

But why do you want grass-fed cow’s milk? Full-fat milk produced by cows that are fed corn has 3-5 times less CLA (good fat) than that of grass-fed cows. That’s why.

Our first grass-fed farm is Grass Point Farms. They sells cheeses, butter and milk solely from family farms where the cows graze on the lush pastures of Wisconsin’s rolling hills. This traditional approach to dairy farming allows cows to spend their days grazing on the grasses that are their natural diet. And it’s this diet that produces the purest, most wholesome milk possible free of artificial growth hormones and antibiotics.
