Tokyo Auto Show: Toyota Hi-CT

Also piling on the Tokyo Auto Show cute bandwagon is the Toyota Hi-CT.
Interesting highlights from this offering, beyond the design itself, include a removable rear trunk and a loading deck that can carry equipment such as a bicycle and the like. Plus, its plug-in hybrid technology allows it to charge from an external power source, giving it a greater driving range when running on its battery-powered motor.
As written in the New York Times…
According to Toyota: “Hi-CT aims to offer a new ‘coolness’ and new ways to have fun as a departure from conventional vehicles — an edgy, urban vehicle inspired by the thinking and lifestyles of youth.” Sound familiar? Perhaps like the catchphrase of a new Toyota brand? According to Times correspondent Jerry Garrett, buzz on the show floor was that the Hi-CT could predict a future Scion hybrid model. Remember, it wasn’t that long ago that we were all laughing at a box on wheels with a high beltline, and short front and rear overhangs.
