This documentary doesn’t shy away from plastic-bag horror tales. There are stories of sea turtles whose digestive tracts are blocked by the bags, leaving the animals to starve to death. Then there are the terrible dangers plastic bags pose in developing countries, where they clog primitive sewage systems to devastating effect. But in the end, it’s the story about how one woman’s single-mindedness persuaded a conservative English village to ban plastic bags that provides just the right human touch.
