CES: Marvell
Here’s a quick hit from the CES floor that may or may not make sense as it’s sort of technical: Marvell is a company that just unveiled a digital power factor correction (PFC) controller, designed to cut energy usage in notebook power adapters and desktop power supplies by up to 50%. Apparently these controllers help manufacturers eliminate somewhere in the neighbourhood of 20 discrete components, meaning less weight and more reliability due to fewer parts. Sounds useful.
