Florida To Curb Ocean Dumping
According to Reuters, every day, three densely populated counties pump a total of at least 300 million gallons of partially treated urban waste water into the Atlantic Ocean. How bad is this water? It’s too polluted even for watering lawns.
But due to increasing and intensive red tides (blankets of potentially toxic algae) and frequent beach closings, the Florida Senate recently passed a bill that would eventually shut down the six pipes.
