Green Your Whoopie
As written in Yahoo! Lifestyle, the green movement concerns everything we put into our bodies - even sex toys. And the sex toy industry is finally catching up with consumers, working to stop producing sex toys containing phthalates (a potentially toxic chemical added to jelly rubber toys) in the coming years.
Until the sex toy industry is a green as we are, here are some buying tips (again, from Yahoo! Lifestyle):
Avoid phthalates and latex. As latex allergies become more common and concerns over the environmental and health impact of phthalates have emerged, toys made of non-latex, phthalate-free silicone and elastomer are your best bet. But beware — a toy doesn’t have to be 100% silicone to be labeled ‘silicone.’ Ask before buying.
Avoid parabens. Often contained in lubes. Like phthalates, the jury is still out on their impact on humans, but you can avoid them by simply reading the ingredients. Look for…organically sourced, preservative-free massage oils and lubricants.
Switch to rechargeable batteries or buy plug-in vibrators.
