Taco Bell Introduces New Kitchen Techniques To Save Water And Energy

Taco Bell plans to install new ‘Grill-To-Order’ cookers in all of their locations to reduce water and energy use and improve cost efficiency. Sounds like a win-win situation, so let’s get to the math, shall we?
‘Grill-to-Order’ saves enough water per year to:
Supply every household in Atlanta with water for the day
Fill 8 oz. water cups that would stretch around the globe more than 10 times
‘Grill-to-Order’ saves enough electricity per year to:
Power every household in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington, DC and Dallas for one day
Power 566,893 refrigerators for a year
Taco Bell partnered with Southern California Edison (SCE) and their Foodservice Technology Center to validate the above-mentioned energy savings SCE is calling it an energy management success story. “In the restaurants we’ve tested in, we’re seeing savings of as much as $5,900 a year in electricity cost per store,” Rick Winfree, senior director of engineering, is quoted as saying in the press release.
