Dagoba Seeds The Day

Ok, here’s the most ingenious campaign to come across our desk in a while. It’s called Seed the Day and it is a new international initiative launched by Dagoba Organic Chocolate.

In an effort to help reforest and sustain family farms in Costa Rica (one of Dagoba”s main sources of cacao) they are planting 60,000 cacao tree seedlings. Dagoba is partnering with the Upala Cacao Cooperative in Costa Rica on this project in order to improve economic opportunity for the farmers, restore native biodiversity and provide habitat for local wildlife.

In the U.S., Dagoba is getting behind the urban gardening movement and hoping to inspire 60,000 gardens by sharing free seeds and starts. Seed the Day is hitting the streets of Boston , Chicago and San Francisco now through mid-September on custom bicycles towing trailers of fresh herbs to give away along with botanical-infused chocolate.

Sign up for your seeds, upload your own garden photos, and even enter a contest to win free chocolate for a year at the Seed the Day site.

Support will also be provided for regional nonprofits dedicated to the urban gardening movement.

Hazah to Dagoba!
