The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil Hand Wash

A great addition to any kitchen counter, The Body Shop’s Tea Tree Oil Hand Wash gets your hands clean with an invigorating, soap-free cleansing gel that contains naturally deoderizing grapefruit seed extract to help dissolve dirt.

What we like best about it, besides the wonderful smell, is that it contains Community Trade organic tea tree oil, which is naturally antiseptic, controls oil, combats existing blemishes and prevents new ones without over-drying the skin. It also is chock full of Community Trade organic honey to moisturize and condition your skin while helping to prevent dryness.

But what is Community Trade and how does it fit into the Greenthinkers way of life? The Body Shop’s organic tea tree oil provides a vital alternative income to 270 small-scale farmers in Kenya. What’s more, the company’s trade with KOOFA helps to empower women who are often supporting their family on their own due to migration and AIDS-related deaths. Through membership in the co-op (which is 50% female), women farmers gain better control of their own income and are trained on the skills of production and introduction of new crops. The women are also involved in management, providing them with a much needed leadership role and increasing their self-esteem and self-reliance.

We are Greenthinkers and we endorse this message.
