The Joinery's Sustainable Furniture

thejoinery_photos.jpg

Considering Greenthinkers’ emphasis on supporting sustainable design, The Joinery recently got in touch with us to discuss their new furniture series. Our first question was, “What is The Joinery?”. Well, The Joinery is a pretty renowned Portland, Ore.-based company committed to design, the environment and the community. Our second question was, “What is their new series like?” The new collection, known as the Modern Series, showcases the beauty of natural wood, their hand craftsmanship and contemporary style

Like all furniture from The Joinery, the Modern Series is offered in Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified woods or locally grown and harvested Northwest species such as walnut or madrone, as well as recycled raw materials including reclaimed Douglas fir. Once constructed, a hand-rubbed non-toxic finish composed of tung, linseed and soybean oils maintain the natural beauty of the wood over time without the toxicity of traditional sealants.

We are smitten.
