Let's Not Forget About Call2Recycle

As mentioned some time ago, many people are unaware that like newspapers and plastic, rechargeable batteries can also be recycled. From laptop computers and digital cameras to cell phones, rechargeable batteries are used to power a variety of cordless electronic products. Most rechargeable batteries can be recharged up to 1,000 times, but when they no longer can hold a charge, it’s time to recycle! Properly disposing of rechargeable batteries is crucial to the preservation of our natural resources and is a simple way for consumers to help protect the environment.

The Call2Recycle program provides a simple and free way to collect used rechargeable batteries found in cordless electronic products, such as laptop computers, cordless power tools, two-way radios, cordless and cell phones, digital cameras and camcorders. Call2Recycle is the most comprehensive rechargeable battery and cell phone recycling solution out there.

Currently, there are more than 50,000 enrolled retail, business and community collection locations that participate in the program throughout the U.S. and Canada. Consumers can bring their used rechargeable batteries and old cell phones to drop-off sites at many retailers, including Circuit City, The Home Depot, Lowe’s, Sears, RadioShack and Staples. Simply drop your rechargeable batteries and cell phones in the branded Call2Recycle box and you can feel good knowing that you’ve upgraded your technology responsibly.

Call2Recycle is operated by the Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation (RBRC), a nonprofit, public service organization dedicated to recycling used rechargeable batteries.

Funny PSA after the jump.
