According to the Daily Mail, Britain’s Queen Elizabeth is investing in the world’s largest offshore wind turbine and also in the development of offshore windfarms in Scottish waters.

The turbine is California-based Clipper Windpower’s MBE turbine. The 100-metre high piece will supply 7.5 megawatts of power to the national grid when it is installed off the North East coast of England.

It is hoped the Queen’s involvement will speed up the development of specialist deep water turbines and encourage energy firms to invest in renewable energy…The expected completion date and cost of the project have not been released. The UK aims to supply 15 per cent of its energy from renewable sources by 2020.
